Places of Worship

There are many churches in Welling of different denominations.  The majority of them are part of Churches Together in Welling.  Over the years, they have organised the Good Friday walk through Welling, Spark in the Park and would have an open air Sunday Morning service as part of the Danson Festival weekend.

A lot of the churches also work together across the whole of Bexley Borough as part of Transform Bexley Borough.

Bishop Ridley Church - Anglican

We are a community of local Christians of all ages and backgrounds. We love meeting new people and offer a warm welcome to everyone. If you are new to the area or want to find out more about God, then you’re very welcome to come and meet us.

St Mary the Virgin Church - Anglican

We are a varied congregation of mixed ages, and enjoy the challenge of being an inclusive church. We pride ourselves that we are growing as a family, using the best traditions of the past combined with the energy and drive of our youth.

We are an Anglican church with a liberal catholic tradition (Church of England).

We’re in the town of Welling (population 42,000), in the Diocese of Southwark.

Our congregation numbers around 120. A quarter of us are under 25.

We have two services on a Sunday, one on a Wednesday and one on a Thursday. The main sung Sunday Service is at 10:00am.

Our church week offers lots to do for both congregation members and the wider community, of all ages.

St Michael East Wickham - Anglican

St John the Evangelist - Anglican

St John’s, Welling is an all age community in the evangelical/charismatic tradition. There are opportunities for children, young people and adults to grow in faith or to find God for the first time. We have a hearing loop and access for disabled people. The church is light and welcoming, and open most weekday mornings during the year. People are important to us, and we pray for and seek opportunities to introduce people to the living God, to serve them and to pray for God’s healing in their lives. We have confidential prayer ministry after every morning service if you would like someone to pray with you.  Our strapline, which is precious to us, is Transforming Life Through Jesus Christ.

The weekly youth groups (Dubsters 10-14’s, 3Dub 14-19’s) and a young adults network (Upper Room,18-30+’s) are a strong feature of this church. God has blessed us with a genuine all-age community, for which we are very thankful. There is also a monthly Over 55’s group (TOFFs) which thrives, and about 15 housegroups.

Wellspring Pentecostal

Wellspring Pentecostal Church is a multi-cultural, all age, family church that seeks to show the love of Jesus to the community in Welling.

On a Sunday we have groups for the children, young people, and also young adults, as well as a vibrant time of worship, regular communion and teaching / encouragement from the Bible.

During the week we have a number of care groups that meet throughout Welling and the surrounding area, and there will always be a group that could fit with the busy lifestyles we all lead.

There is a busy community cafe that meets every Tuesday from 11 -1pm where you can get free drinks, a hot meal for just £3.50, and there is always a warm welcome for everyone who attends.

If you are looking for a Church you can call home, or are just exploring the Christian faith, then please come and visit us on a Sunday at 11am.

We look forward to seeing you.

Upper Room Church was founded in 2009 by Rev. Bismark Asimeng-Cann & wife Kwasibea Asimeng-cann. With a clear vision from the Lord, our mission is simple: To prepare people for the Lord.

With this mandate, Upper Room Church set itself the task to proclaim the word of God throughout the UK and beyond. Our church, over the years has experienced a sturdy growth and many lives transformed.

Our church services are filled with vibrant, live worship and charismatic, spirit filled biblical teachings.

At Upper Room Church we are privileged to be ‘stewards and guardians’ of God and the future planned for us. It takes all of us to make the effort and work hard to fulfil this mission.

We are dedicated to preparing people for the Lord in all aspects of life. We aspire to cultivate leadership and impact our community to the glory of God.
